Lenelle Moise Wins Honors

I met Lenelle Moise a few years ago at the ATHE  conference in NYC. She is a poet, performer and playwright who is dedicated to social change. She is a TALF (Theatre Artist I Love to Follow) who has great news this week, with gigs coming up all over the place. Congratulations, Lenelle!

NEW ORLEANS. Her two-act play MERIT just won the Ruby Prize. This is Southern Rep’s annual New Play Award, given to a woman of color playwright and named in honor of Civil Rights advocate Ruby Bridges. The amazing prize includes a workshop in New Orleans, a staged reading in New York City and extra writing time at Hedgebrook.

AUSTIN. She is the inaugural African & African Diaspora Studies Spring 2012 Performing Artist Fellow at UT Austin. During her semester-long residency, she will continue to develop her one-woman show Ache What Make and teach a semester-long course called “Prompt & Circumstance: A Creative Lab for the Performing Writer.”

THE WORLD. Her surging poem “& do you see how much i love you?” is featured online as part of the International Museum of Women’s exhibit on motherhood.
